The consortium led by SYSTRA has been chosen to design the second line of metro network in Bogotá, Colombia.
The Unión Temporal Movius – UT Movilidad Urbana Sostenible consortium includes five other specialist companies: Garrigues Colombia SAS, Brigard & Urrutia Abogados, KPMG Advisory, BONUS Banca de Inversión S.A.S and Ingetec Ingeniería y Diseños SAS. The consortium was selected by the FDN, the Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional of Colombia. The design contract will end in 2023.
The Metro Line 2 will have a total length of 15.8 km, from which 13.5 km is an underground section with tunnel diameters of 7 meters, 1.9 km is a ground-level section and 0.4 km is an elevated section. The line will serve such cities as Chapinero, Barrios Unidos, Engativá and Suba and will have 11 stations.
Line 2 will complement Line 1, which is still under construction in the hypercentre in the north-east of the capital. The stations will be interconnected with the TransMilenio Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network and the RegioTram del Norte tram-train line, for which SYSTRA is also in charge of design.
