Agência Nacional de Transportes Terrestres (ANTT) has selected Consórcio Via Brasil 163 as a winning consortium with a toll fee of BRL0,07/km, representing a discount of 8% for the concession of the highway BR-163/230/MT/PA. The auction for the concession took place on July 8, 2021 in Brazil.
The Via Brasil BR-163 consortium is formed by the companies Conasa Infraestrutura SA, Zeta Infraestrutura SA, Construtora Rocha Cavalcante LTDA, Engenharia de Materials LTDA and M4 Investimentos e Participações LTDA.
The highway system has a total length of 1,009.5 km and links the Midwest and North of the country. The highway is a strategic transportation infrastructure for the flow of production, connecting the port terminals of Arco Norte (Rio Tapajós) to the municipality of Sinop. It is also estimated that 29 thousand jobs will be generated with the concession of the highway.
Total investment in the project is around BRL1.8 billion (US$344.8 million) and is aimed at improving the road infrastructures, such as shoulders, additional lanes, side roads and access roads, including periodic maintenance. The concession is awarded for a period of 10 years.
The Federal Government ensures around BRL 2 billion (USD385 million) for investments for the BR-163/230/MT/PA, in addition to another BRL1 billion (USD192.4 million) for operational services and customer-oriented services.
