Wayne State University, an American public research university located in Detroit, Michigan, is seeking a developer to carry out a student housing PPP project.
To be more specific, the university has launched a request of proposals (RFP) to design, build, finance and posssibly operate and maintain a new and an existing on-campus student residential and other facilities.
The project involves the demolition of an apartment building, the renovation of three residence halls and two apartment buildings with a total of 2,852 beds, and the development of two apartment buildings with a total of 838 beds. These new facilities will have commercial retail space.
A mandatory on-site pre-proposals meting took place on February 9, 2016. According to sources, a total of 20 firms attended the event. Interested parties must to submit their proposals on or before 14 March 2016.
The new facilities are scheduled to be operational by the 2018 fall semester, the first new building, and by the 2019 fall semester, the second new building.
