The Dutch town of Tiel has picked a VolkerWessels-led consortium as the preferred bidder on its Westluidense Gate PPP, a project entailing the construction of a cultural centre. The contract was provisionally awarded on 18 July 2013.

Facilicom will execute facility management activities. OPPS was the advisor to the town during the tender process.

The town of Tiel has awarded the contract as a DBFMO agreement. The project will include:

• a cultural building (arts center, library, tourist information center, historical information center, art library and exhibition center),
• underground parking,
• housing pieces,
• a commercial area.

The town selected in March 2012 three parties (from six bidders) to participate in a competitive dialogue process. Finally, the VolkerWessels-Facilicom consortium was chosen as the preferred bidder for the project.
