Vientam approves US$ 900m expressway PPP

The government of Vietnam has approved the investment policy of the Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway to be implemented on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

The  115 km long expressway will be constructed in two phases and will connect Lang Son Province and Cao Bang Province in the north of the country.  In phase 1 expressway from Tan Thanh border gate in Lang Son province to Phuc Sen commune in Cao Bang province will be built. The lengths of phase 1 will be 52 km.  In phase 2 the expressway will be extended from Quang Hoa district to the Tra Linh border gate in Cao Bang province. The length of phase 2 will be 63 km.

Phase 1 of the project will be constructed between 2020-2024. Phase 2 will be implemented after 2025.

The scale of the project is a motorway according to expressway standards (TCVN5729-2012). Design speed is 80 km/h, for difficult terrain - 60km/h. The expressway will feature 4 lanes, the median strip and safety strip 1.5 wide.

The total estimated investment of the project is VND 20,939 billion (US$ 901 million).

Project objectives are to meet the transport needs connecting economic and political centers with northeastern mountainous provinces, economic zones, national tourist zones, industrial zones, serving the to promote socio-economic development.
