PTPelabuhan Indonesia (Persero)/Pelindo and a consortium formed by Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) have signed a cooperation agreement for the management of Belawan New Container Terminal (BNCT) in Indonesia. This collaboration will accelerate the development of the Belawan Port with international service standards, transforming the feeder port into a gateway of northern Sumatera.
The US$7.5 billion cooperation agreement intends to increase the terminal capacity (from 600,000 TEUs to more than 1.4 million TEUs in the next six years) and advance the maritime and port industries in Indonesia. The agreement is a component of a strategic partnership between INA and DP World which also acts as an investment partner along with Pelindo.
The BNCT will also modernize maritime infrastructure, including management efficiency with industrial estates and truck traffic to/from ports.
