IDE Technologies has announced that it was awarded the bid to finance, design and construct of Desalination plant public-private partnership (PPP) project in Western Galilee, Israel.
The ILS1.5 billion (US$431 million) Birkat Miriam desalination plant has the capacity to produce 100 million m3 of desalinated water annually. It intends to improve the reliability of the Israeli water supply in Haifa, the Western Galilee and Upper Galilee regions. Once operaional, it will increase the total capacity of Israel's desalination plants to almost 900 million m3 of water per year.
The project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025 and the IDE will operate it for 25 years.
