The Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión) of Peru has announced that it has awarded six public-private partnership (PPP) projects that will see broadband networks installed in the regions of Áncash, Arequipa, La Libertad, Huánuco, Pasco and San Martín, for a total investment of US$358 million.
The projects involve the deployment of approximately 9,564km of optical fiber, which will directly benefit more than 1,100,000 Peruvians in 2,295 localities.
A consortium of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Company (Hong Kong) Limited and Yachay Telecomunicaciones S.A.C., has been awarded contracts to develop broadband networks in Áncash, La Libertad, Arequipa and San Martín.
The networks in Huánuco and Pasco will be developed by a consortium of Peruvian businesses: DHMONT & CG & M S.A.C., DHMONT S.A.C. Contratistas Generales, Telkom SRLTDA y Bantel S.A.C.
The PPP projects will provide internet access to public institutions, such as police, education and health facilities, selected by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as private intranet services.
The broadband networks will meet the demand for internet access of other public institutions, private organisations and the local residents of the selected regions.
Peru's Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión) has launched the tender for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment system for the Lake Titicaca basin, located in Puno, in the south-east of the country. The project has an estimated total investment of PEN840 million (US$255.5 million).
