The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and the Company Metro de Bogotá SA signed a US$255 million financing agreement for Bogotá Metro Line 2 development project in Colombia.
The line of credit, which has a term of 5 years and is renewable for up to 2 years, will be utilized to finance the concession contract for the construction and initiation of Bogotá Metro Line 2. This metro line will connect from Calle 72 in Chapinero to the Suba neighborhood.
Line 2 of the Metro, spanning 15.5 km with 14.3 km underground, features 11 stations, a workshop yard, and 25 trains capable of accommodating 1,800 passengers each. This project aims to enhance city mobility, promote public transport usage, and alleviate congestion in Chapinero, Barrios Unidos, Suba, and Engativá areas. This contract is expected to be awarded in the first half of 2024.
