US$236.6 million Concession contract signed for expansion and remodeling of airport in Colombia

The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has signed a concession contract for more than COP920,000 million (US$236.62 million) for the expansion and remodeling of the Cartagena airport in Colombia.

The concession period will span 8.5 years, including 1 year for pre-construction, 2.5 years for construction, and 5 years for operation and maintenance. The contract resulted in a new international terminal covering 17,360 m2 and the renovation of 2,814 m2 in the existing terminal. The project entails 22 interventions aimed at modernizing the airport infrastructure. Additionally, the commercial platform will expand by 15,740 m2, totaling 99,770 m2, while a parking area of 11,683 m2 will accommodate 330 vehicles. A parallel road to the runway will be constructed to optimize airport operations.

The award process is expected to conclude by January 2024, with an estimated value of COP24 billion (US$6.17 million), ensuring comprehensive oversight of various aspects, including financial, accounting, legal, social, property, environmental, administrative, and security components during this crucial expansion and renovation contract.
