Uberaba launches public consultation for street lighting PPP

The city of Uberaba, located in the state of Minas Gerais (Brazil), has lunched a public consultation for the city's street lighting PPP project.

In January this year a request for expressions of interest was launched to carry out feasibility studies for the project. Several companies were registered, but only Alpha Concessões Eireli presented the requested studies.

The project will involve the operation and maintenance of the city's street lighting system for a period of 35 years. It is estimated that the preferred bidder will have to invest approximately R$123 million (US$31.7 million) during the concession period.

Interested parties have to submit suggestions, criticisms and comments on or before 8 October. The public hearing will take place on 18 September.

Uberaba is a municipality in the west of the state of Minas Gerais. Its population is approximately 300,000 inhabitants with an area of 4529.7 km². It is located on a plateau at an elevation of 823 meters.
