According to sources, two teams submitted final proposals for the Carriel Sur airport terminal concession project in Chile around two weeks ago.
The two bidders were Consorcio Aeropuertos Asociados, a team formed by A Port Chile and Flughafen Zurich AG, and Ifacal Inversiones S.A.
In early January we informed about the launch of the tender process to develop the project. The total investment for the project was estimated at Chile's UF770.000 (US$33 million).
The new concession includes among others the extension of the passenger terminal building, a new car park and new infrastructure for management and services.
The airport, which currently operates under the concession model, is located 5 km northwest of the city of Concepcion. It has a strategic location within the national network of airports, due to the associated high demand, which relates mainly to industrial, forestry, fisheries, manufacturing, tourism and services present activities in the area.
