Two bidders announced for road PPP in Uruguay

Two local bidders have submitted proposals for the Route 12, 54, 55, 57 and Carmelo bypass PPP project in Uruguay. The interested parties were Ramón Álvarez S.A. and the consortium Grupo Oriental 1, formed by Ciemsa, Traxpalco S.A. y Hernández y González S.A.

In December 2015 we reported that the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MOP) of Uruguay, had launched the tender processes to develop two road PPP projects. One of the projects was the mentioned project and the other project was the upgrade, development, operation and maintenance of the routes 9 and 15.

Both projects will use an availability-payment structure with the concessionaire being according to the state of the routes during the operation period.

The government of Uruguay has plans to improve the country's road system. It is expected that several projects involving about 4,270 km of roads will be carried out.
