Turner & Townsend announces new appointments in India

Turner & Townsend has appointed Ameya Gumaste as country manager and hired Matthew Grant as operations director to work across major projects in India.

Ameya Gumaste, previously the director of our Mumbai office with more than 20 years experience in programme, project and cost management, will now lead the growth strategy and drive its implementation across the region, particularly in infrastructure, manufacturing and technology sectors.

His new role will also involve cementing and expanding client relationships with international brands ranging from investment and banking to engineering and natural resources. 

Matthew Grant joins Turner & Townsend with over two decades of experience in project management and an in-depth regional knowledge, having spent the past eight years working in India. As the new Operations Director, he will be responsible for major project delivery and support, skill development, international outreach and best practice delivery.

    As we reported in September 2015, IRB Infrastructure was awarded by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) with the contract for the development of the PPP road project. The contract was signed in September 2015.The total cost of this project is INR26.5 billion, out of which equity contribution by the company will be INR8.73 billion (US$129 million) and remaining will be funded through Project finance of INR16.50 billion (US$243.5 million). The average cost of debt of this Project finance is approx. 11.25% per year.A consortium of lenders comprising of IDBI Bank Limited - Lead Institution, India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd. (IIFCL), Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, UCO Bank, Andhra Bank and Punjab National Bank have financed this project. Read more
