DIA Holding has secured a €272 million (US$339 million) financing package to develop the Mersin PPP Integrated Health Campus PPP project in southern Turkey.
The project's finance agreement was signed on 21 November. The loan involves a 15-years maturity financing from DenizBank, Yap? Kredi, UniCredit Bank Austria AG.
The construction area of the project is 328,235 m2, and it will have a parking lot of 3759 vehicles in total. Accordingly, within the scope of the project, an integrated healthcare campus of total 1253 beds will be built as general hospital, obstetrics, gynecology and pediatric hospital, cardio-vascular diseases hospital, psychiatry hospital and oncology hospital.
The PPP contract involves the development and financing of the new facilities including 25 years of provision of certain services to the Ministry of Health of Turkey. Medical services are not included in the contract.
The project is expected to be operational by May 2015.
The healthcare system in Turkey is being developed under the Health Transformation Program which was initiated in 2003. Within the scope of the Health Transformation Program, the Ministry of Health has planned to develop 30 Health Campuses in 22 provinces to serve 29 health regions among Turkey.
Another similar project, the Kayseri health campus PPP project, has recently achieved financial closure. Turkey's YDA Group secured this month €315 million (US$395 million) financing for the project.
