The government of Kenya has selected a consortium led by Intercontinental Consultants & Technocrats Pvt. Ltd. as transaction advisor (TA) for the Nairobi - Thika road PPP project.
The contract involves the provision of transaction advisory services for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Nairobi - Thika road PPP project to be implemented for a period of twenty four months. Specifically the services includes:
Construction of the eight-lane 50 km superhighway, starting from Nairobi and running up to the outskirts of Thika, was completed in Nov, 2012.
According to the Infrastructure Principal Secretary John Mosonik the government plans to hire transaction advisers to implement toll stations scheme. The funds collected will be used for road maintenance as Kenya embarks on an ambitious plan to construct 10,000 kilometres of roads by 2017. In January, Mr Mosonik stated:
The financing for the contract has been provided by the WorldBank.Recently the government of Kenya has selected a consortium led by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as transaction advisor for the Mombasa-Nairobi highway expansion PPP project.Deloitte has been selected as lead transaction advisor for the development of the Second Nyali Bridge PPP project."Toll roads scheme will completely be a private-public partnership and we hope to get a transaction adviser by next month to roll it out. Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru highway, Thika Road and Southern by-pass will be the first to be incorporated under this scheme,"
