Tom Waldron Joins HDR as Transit Director

Tom Waldron has joined HDR as Transit market sector director, based in the New York City office. His responsibilities include setting HDR's vision and initiatives for continued growth and expansion in transit across North America and globally.

Prior to joining HDR, Waldron served as Americas Transit & Rail director for AECOM, one of the largest multinational consulting firms in the transportation industry. During his career, he also served as the first general manager for the Virginia Railway Express during start-up of the 90-mile commuter rail system serving northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.  Additionally, he has held staff positions at NJ Transit, Conrail and Futrex, Inc.

With more than 35 years in the transit business, Waldron's diverse experience ranges from financing, development and design to construction, commissioning and operations for transit, passenger rail, freight and private developer clients in North and South America. He has also supported global initiatives in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and Asia. He has led successful implementation of new-start transit systems, been engaged in developing innovative transportation technologies and spearheaded innovative approaches to alternative project delivery.

Waldron is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, WTS International and the Council of Minority Transportation Officials, and has served on the board and various committees of the American Public Transportation Association.

With 8,500 employees in more than 200 locations around the world, HDR has completed projects in more than 60 countries.
