The Government of Thailand has announced it will let domestic and foreign investors collaborate with government agencies in developing social housing projects through the PPP scheme under the Pracha Rat Home scheme.
The state-owned GH Bank and the National Housing Authority (NHA) will design a housing development plan for low-income and lower-middle earners nationwide.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak stated:
“The government is very ambitious to help those low-income earners, lower-middle class people as well as state officials who have just started working, to have their own houses or empower them to at least rent the houses. So the public-private partnership scheme will be allowed in this ambitious plan.”
According to Mr Somkid, the demand for housing projects in the country is very high and many low-income and lower-middle earners do not have access to own houses.
Besides, the government also aims to support the access of housing projects for elderly people.
