The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC), in coordination with the Center for Alternative Finance and Procurement (Center) have released a Request for Information (RFI) regarding development, procurement, financing and delivery of a potential project for the GJ Sutton Site located in San Antonio, Texas.
The project that involves renovating the G.J. Sutton site is projected to cost up to US$120 million. The complex, located at 321 Center Street, sits on 5.96 acres, contains 260,000 square feet of office space and has an 840-space parking area.
TFC and the Center are considering a PPP for design, build, finance, operations and maintenance of a new facility for state employees while obtaining the best value and minimal debt for the state. The combined amount of payments made by the state for leased office space in and around San Antonio is around US$3.4 million annually. Prior to 2013, the G.J. Sutton Building housed various state agencies. In the spring of 2013, the building was closed due to structural deficiencies and state workers were relocated to other buildings.
Deadline for submission of questions regarding the RFI is April 12 and deadline for submission of responses is April 24. Further information is available here.
Information submitted based on the outline of the RFI will help advance evaluation and development efforts for the project and this may result in the launch of a formal project and associate procurement activities.
