The Mass Railway Transit Authority (MRTA) has begun Passenger carrying test operations on the 34·5 km Pink Line straddle monorail in Bangkok, Thailand.
Serving 30 stops, the Pink Line runs from northwest to northeast. It connects Min Buri on the upcoming Orange metro line, which is presently being built, to Nonthaburi Civic Centre on the Purple metro line. The Pink Line can accommodate 17,000 people in each way in an hour. In December 2016, the Sino-Thai Engineering & Construction, BTS Group, and Ratchaburi Electricity Generating joint venture, known as BSR, was chosen to construct and run the Pink and Yellow monorail lines under a PPP concession. The Eastern Bangkok Monorail Co. and the joint venture's Northern Bangkok Monorail Co. are in charge of creating and running the Yellow Line and Pink Line, respectively. Alstom has provided 42 four-car autonomous monorail trainsets and its Cityflo 650 signaling system for the Pink Line. They can travel up to 80 km/h and are capable of GoA4 unattended driverless operation.
The Pink Line's construction got underway in December 2017, and on November 21st, passenger-carrying trials started.
