Bologna, Italy, has launched the tender process seeking private investors to carry out the design, build, financing, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) of an energy installation at the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna.
The contract will be awarded under public-private partnership (PPP) model and will have a duration of 9 years. According to the tender documents, the total investment for the energy project reaches €25 million (US$28 million).
The project consists of a cogeneration power plant, which simultaneously generates of electricity and useful heating and cooling. Cogeneration is a highly efficient form of energy conversion and it can achieve primary energy savings of approximately 40% by compared to the separate purchase of electricity from the national electricity grid and a gas boiler for onsite heating.
The deadline for interested bidders to submit their proposals is on November 2nd, 2016, before 12:00 (local hour).
