The Public Private Partnership Authority of Bangladesh has launched a tender on behalf of Bangladesh Railway for a DBFOT contract regarding a hospital and medical school in Chittagong.
Bangladesh Railway intends to award a contract for the design, building, financing, operation and transfer of a 500-bed multi-specialty hospital and a 100-seat medical school on a Bangladesh Railway site in Chittagong.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on 29 January 2018. The deadline for bid submission is 26 February 2018. For more information about the tender process, see the Business Opportunity.
Chittagong is the second-largest city in Bangladesh and is located in the south-east of the country. This project will add to the eight public hospitals and six private hospitals in the city. Despite this number, the demand for a multi-specialty hospital is clear, as the existing public hospitals are mainly each focussed on narrow medical areas, such tuberculosis, diabetes and mothers and children.
This is the third hospital PPP to be tendered in Bangladesh in the last three years, and contributes to a busy year for the Public Private Partnership Authority, with tenders being launched for multiple port terminals, roads, social infrastructure and a gas-fired power station, among others.
