Ministry of public works in Chile has launched a call for bids seeking a private partner for the improvement of the technical standards and service levels as well as the extension of 131.4 km long Ruta 78 highway connecting Santiago and San Antonio, Chile.
The project consists of the construction of multiple works along the entire route of Route 78, such as the expansion to third tracks in new sections and solutions to unevenness in trench, viaduct and links, which will generate express connections with Route 5, General Velásquez and Américo Vespucio, as well as new bridges, walkways, bus stops, truck service areas, acoustic screens and service streets, among other structures.
Likewise, the concessionaire that is awarded the work must operate and maintain the route in strict compliance with the technical standards and service levels established in the contract throughout the concession period of 30 years.
The route, which has an extension of 112.8 km, constitutes a fundamental axis for the transport of cargo between Santiago and the Port of San Antonio, as well as for the connection of developed urban areas in the vicinity of its route. In fact, the highway crosses the communes of Santiago, Pedro Aguirre Cerda and Maipú in the Province of Santiago; from El Monte, Padre Hurtado, Peñaflor and Talagante, in the Province of Talagante; from Melipilla, in the Province of Melipilla; and of San Antonio, Santo Domingo and Cartagena, in the Province of San Antonio. In this way, the project will benefit a population close to 1,760,000 people per year.
The deadline to submit the bids is July 29, 2021. For more information about this opportunity, click here.
