The Ministry of Economic Development has issued the tender for the development of Gan International Airport in the Maldives under the public-private partnership (PPP) project.
Gan International Airport PPP project involves the development of a terminal capable of handling 1.5 million passengers per year, the development of shops, restaurants, lounges, trucks and aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF).
EXIM Bank of India allocated USD17 million for the project under the line of credit (LOC). The development of the international airport contributes to the development of other industries in the southern region. The preparation of the project is planned to begin at the end of 2022.
