Tender issued for multibillion Railway line Project in Lithuania and Latvia

Rail Baltica has announced that LTG Infra launched a new tender to select companies to build the railway embankment, construct engineering structures and access roads on the railway section between Kaunas and the Lithuanian-Latvian border under the Rail Baltica Global Project.

The project involves the development of an electrified double-track European gauge railway line along the entire Rail Baltica route, connecting Warsaw, Kaunas, Riga, and Tallinn. The total length of the Rail Baltica railway line in the Baltic States will reach 870 km, with 392 km in Lithuania, 265 km in Latvia and 213 km in Estonia.

The estimated cost of work on the section of the railway between Kaunas and the Lithuanian-Latvian border is about EUR1.05 billion (US$1.02 billion), excluding VAT. EU funding will be about 85% of the total, the rest will be financed from the Lithuanian budget.
