Tender issued for USD9.12 billion light rail PPP project in New Zealand
Auckland Light Rail Group in New Zealand has launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) seeking consultants for its Light rail network and Additional Waitematā Harbour Connections projects. The 24km long light rail route features up to 18 stations and stops from the City Centre to Māngere and the airport.
The selected consultant will be responsible for the following tasks :
- Indicative Business Case (IBC) phase for the Additional Waitematā Harbour Connections (AWHC) project
- Pre-construction planning phase for the Auckland Light Rail (ALR)
The tender process is being coordinated with the Additional Waitematā Harbour Connections project, to give industry professionals the ability to better plan their resources for the pipeline of infrastructure work. The two projects will be bringing on separate teams.

Next steps for the $4B Auckland LRT PPP in New Zealand
NZ Infra and the New Zealand Transport Agency are continuing to progress their light rail proposals for the City Centre to Māngere corridor. This process will take up to six months and the Ministry of Transport will then provide advice on the proposals to the Government in February 2020. The Government will make a decision on the preferred partner after that date.

New Zealand to tender US$4 billion light rail project after unsolicited proposal
Following an unsolicited proposal, New Zealand's Cabinet has agreed to tender the Auckland Light Rail Project. This involves the development of two light rail lines that will connect the central business district of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, located on the country's North Island, to the airport and the north-west region. It is estimated to cost NZD6 billion (US$4.18 billion).
