In April 2013, Honduras PPP Unit, Coalianza, invited companies interested in the design, construction, financing, operation, maintenance and transfer of Palmerola International Airport project for a period of 30 years.The deadline for submissions of proposals is July 19th, 2013 and the award will take place in September 2013.The estimated cost of investment is US$ 130 millionThe project:The Palmerola airport will be located on a former airbase on the major road between Honduras capital and San Pedro de Sula, just 70km from the capital and a 50 minute journey time, 13 km from the city of Comayagua.Spanish consultancy firm based in Barcelona, Advanced Logistic Group (ALG), carried out the initial project studies and specifications. The project includes construction of runway shoulders, a new control tower, a 14,000m2 passenger terminal and a 1500m2 cargo terminal.The airport is expected to have a maximum capacity of 2.1mn passengers per year in 2045.Source: Coalianza

Nine companies show interest in Palmerola airport
Coalinaza has announced that companies from Argentina, Chile, China, Honduras and Colombia are participating in the tender for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of a new terminal at Palmerola airport in Honduras. Companies from Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil and Spain expressed interest in the project but finally did not submit any documents.The pre-qualified companies will submit technical and financial proposals in late September.
