Teams prequalify for two airports concession in Montenegro

The Transport Ministry of the Republic of Montenegro has qualified four teams in the tender for the 30-year concession contract of Tivat and Podgorica international airports. The expected investment in airports is EUR 200 million (USD 223.2 million).

The qualified teams are:

  • South Korea's Incheon International Airport Corporation;
  • India's GMR Airports;
  • Luxembourg's Corporacion America Airports;
  • A consortium of France's Groupe ADP and Turkey's TAV.

In total seven bids were submitted in the tender. The companies that were not qualified are: Turkey's Limak Holding; Turkey's Cengiz and Denmark's Copenhagen Airports; and Ireland's DAA International, France's Bouygues Batiment International and Luxembourg's Marguerite.

Tivat airport is located right next to the city of Tivat, 8 km from the center of Kotor, and 20 km north-west of Budva, one of the most popular tourist destinations on the eastern Adriatic coast. The sole runway of the airport ends just 88 m from the coastline of the Bay of Kotor.

Podgorica international airport serves the Montenegrin capital of Podgorica and the surrounding region. The airport is located 11 km south of central Podgorica, in the Zeta Plain, one of the few flat areas of Montenegro suitable for a large airport.

The selected finalists now have sixty days to submit their bindings offers.
