Trade Centre Global Investments (TCGI) has won the tender process for the operations of Maastricht Aachen Airport, a regional airport in Beek, Netherlands.
The company beat out competition from two other bidders.
Maastricht Aachen Airport is located 9.3 km northeast of Maastricht. It is the second-largest hub for cargo flights in the Netherlands.
In 2014 Maastricht Aachen Airport realized a modest growth in the handled air cargo volumes and a decline in passenger numbers. In total 80.000 tonnes of air cargo was handled and 283.000 passengers travelled via the airport.
The contract will run until 2026 with an extension option.
In 2004 the airport was privatized and sold to UK investment firm, Omniport and Dutch construction firm, Dura Vermeer.
Later in 20013 the airport was helped by the province of Limburg with a €4.5 million contribution. The airport was very close to bankruptcy during this period. Later on, in March 2014, the same province of Limburg took it over. The Province continues to own the land and buildings, totalling about 180 hectares.
