Sri Lanka launches RFP for desalination PPP at Hambantota

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) invites proposals for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract under a investment, construction and management scheme over a period of 50 years.

The deadline for submission of proposals is due December 12, 2017. Proposals which are received on or before the deadline for submission of Proposals will be opened soon after the closing. A pre-proposal conference will be held on October 30, 2017 at Office of Mirijjawila Export Processing Zone, 100 ft Road, Mirijjawila.

An investment of approximately US$20 to US$25 million will be necessary for the development of the facility.

The scope of the project comprises a 20,000 m3 /day seawater desalination plant to supply of water to potential investors in Hambantota area, Sri Lanka.

The total extent of land is 6.4 acres approximately in Mirijjawila Export Processing Zone. The land presently owned by the BOI, is located in Mirijjawila in the Hambantota Divisional Secretariat Division in Hambantota District, Sri Lanka. The location is about 2 km away from the sea.
