Spain to launch tender for high speed rail systems

On 9 July 2013, the Spanish Ministerio de Fomento announced that it will launch a tender in September for the construction, operation and maintenance of the communications and security systems of the high speed train (AVE) stretch between Zamora and Olmedo.

The Spanish high speed trains (AVE) are a service operated by RENFE, the Spanish national railway company. The trains run at speeds of up to 310 km/h (193 mph).

The stretch between Zamora and Olmedo is a necessary piece to complete the route between Madrid and the region of Galicia, in the north west part of Spain.

The Minister, Ana Pastor, said that the AVE to Galicia is a priority of the Government.
