The South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) has launched a tender process to seek a private partner for the development of a rental car facility in Atlantic City.
The PPP contract involves the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a Quick Turnaround Facility for the rental car companies at the Atlantic International Airport .
The Authority leases approximately 2,200 acres on the airfield from the FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center and owns 84 acres where the terminal and other landside buildings are located. The Airport is served by four rental car companies; Hertz, Budget, Avis and Enterprise.
The property will be leased under a ground lease management agreement for a minimum of fifteen years, with the potential to extend the term for two additional five year terms, at the Authority’s sole discretion.
In order to be considered for selection, proposals must be received no later than January 26, 2017.
The contract is expected to be awarded in April 2017.
Atlantic City is a resort city on New Jersey's Atlantic coast that's known for its many casinos, wide beaches and iconic Boardwalk.
Its airport, located in Egg Harbor Township NJ, served 1.2 million passengers in 2015. Currently there is one scheduled commercial carrier, Spirit Airlines, as well as multiple charter carriers who service the needs of the nearby casinos and tourism industry.
