The Brazilian municipality of Sorocaba, though it public private partnership (PPP) unit, has launched a request for expressions of interest (RfEOI) to develop the feasibility studies for a waste PPP project.
Odebrecht Ambiental and Ecopav Soluções Ambientais had previously submitted a private initiative to develop the project.The project will involve the provision of urban sanitation and solid waste management services. Specifically it involves, among others, waste collection, sweeping and cleaning of roads, transport and final waste disposal.
The value of the Feasibility studies is estimated at R$860.000 (US$284.815 )
Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 30 June 2015.
In late February we reported that the municipality, through the Municipal Secretariat of Mobility, launched the tender process for the Sorocaba Bus Rapid Transit (BTR) PPP project. The project involves the building, maintaining and operating of a 35 km BRT system in the city.
Sorocaba is a municipality in the state of São Paulo and it also is the eighth largest city in the state. With an estimated population of 700,313 inhabitants, it is a regional capital of the Sorocaba microregion with 14 municipalities, totaling over 1.5 million inhabitants. According to the national development bank BNDES, the São Paulo metropolitan region is expected to attract most urban mobility investments in the coming years.
