SNCF's Group revenue for the quarter ending 31 March 2013 totalled €8,204 million, up 0.6% from the first quarter of 2012.
Revenue from SNCF Infra came to €1,262 million, up 4.3% on the quarter ending 31 March 2012. Growth was driven by an increase in network renovation and upgrades, especially in the Paris region, offset in part by the transfer of SNCF building maintenance (previously managed by the SNCF Infra division) to the Gares & Connexions division as of 1 January 2013. Excluding the impact of this transfer, revenues rose by 6.8% compared with Q1 2012.
Revenue from SNCF Proximités came to €3,233 million, a rise of 0.8% from Q1 2012. Growth was fuelled by operations at Keolis, particularly in France, where business benefited from the full-year impact of a contract to operate transport systems in Greater Amiens and from growth in Transilien ticket sales. Over the same period, the TER regional service held steady and intercity travel declined as the economy worsened.
Revenue came to €1,724 million, down slightly (0.8%) from the end of March 2012 and down 0.7% at constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates. The decline was primarily due to lower ticket sales (-0.8%) including a 2.0% fall for TGV high-speed rail service in France. European business showed a 3.2% rise in ticket sales, primarily due to increased travel to Switzerland and Germany.
Revenue from SNCF Geodis came to €2,278 million, down 2.1% from the first quarter of 2012 and 2.9% lower at constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates.
