SNC Lavalin appoints Chief Compliance Officer

SNC-Lavalin yesterday announced that it has hired David G. Wilkins as its Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). Effective March 1, 2014, Mr. Wilkins will join the organization with the mandate of continuing to ensure its total commitment to the highest standards of governance, ethics and compliance. Based in Montreal, Mr. Wilkins will report to Robert G. Card, President and CEO, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc.

Since 2008, Mr. Wilkins has led the Ethics & Compliance function at the Dow Chemical Company, an organization with approximately $57 billion in annual sales and 53,000 employees worldwide. Prior to that, he served as General Counsel of Union Carbide Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow, and as Vice-President and Chief Diversity Officer of the American Red Cross.

Mr. Wilkins said:

"Having witnessed the rapid progress SNC-Lavalin has made over the past year to strengthen its ethics and compliance framework, I am thrilled to be on board. SNC-Lavalin's employees have shown the world that they have turned the page. I want to help this remarkable company reach its true potential."

Mr. Wilkins will succeed SNC-Lavalin's current CCO, Andreas Pohlmann, effective June 1, 2014, following a comprehensive transition period. After that date, Mr. Pohlmann will move into a consulting role, with a strategic focus on ongoing World Bank compliance initiatives. He will work closely with Mr. Wilkins to ensure the continuance of the company's dedication to ethics and compliance excellence.

Under Mr. Pohlmann's leadership, SNC-Lavalin successfully created and implemented a best-in-class Ethics & Compliance Program to prevent, detect and rapidly respond to any potential ethics-related issues throughout all levels of the organization. This first phase of the Company's ethics and compliance initiative led to several positive outcomes, one of which occurred in February 2014 when the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) authorized SNC-Lavalin to contract with public authorities in the province of Quebec.

Mr. Pohlmann said:

"I have been truly impressed with what SNC-Lavalin's employees have accomplished and to see that their hard work is supported by our many stakeholders throughout the world. SNC-Lavalin is a model for other companies who must also establish world-class ethics and compliance frameworks."
