SL Capital acquires stake in Macquarie European fund

SL Capital Partners has acquired a stake in Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund II (MEIF2) from Storebrand Livsforsikring AS.

MEIF2 was launched following the success of MEIF, to take advantage of the growing number of infrastructure investment opportunities within the expanding European Union. Now fully invested, MEIF2 is a €4.6 billion (US$4.98 billion) wholesale investment fund that invests in businesses which:

  • provide an essential service to the community
  • have a strong competitive position
  • generate stable cashflows over the long term.

Investments made by MEIF2 include 15 infrastructure assets located across the expanding European Union. Investments include, among others: Airwave, Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhone, Arqiva, Condor Group, National Car Parks, Thames Water, Techem, and Värmevärde.

In September 2014 Wealth manager Fleming Family & Partners (FF&P) sold a stake in MEIF2 to BlackRock.
