Six candidates preselected for the Eastern Macedonia & Thrace waste PPP project

The Municipality of Alexandroupolis (Greece), on December 20th 2013, qualified six of the seven candidates that submitted expressions of interest for the Eastern Macedonia & Thrace waste management PPP project.

The six qualified teams are:

  1. Terna Energy,
  2. Aktor Concessions, and Helektor,
  3. Toxotis,
  4. Μetka, and CH. D. Konstantinidis,
  5. Archirodon Group, Intrakat, and Envitec,
  6. J&P Avax, and Μesogeios.

The project involves the design, construction, financing, maintenance and operation of the waste management facility for a period of 27 years. The lowest fee to be paid by the users will constitute the main selection criterion, while meeting all environmental goals.

The project will utilize funds provided by the European Union's structural funds for the co-financing of the construction costs, along with private funds.

The contract value has been estimated at €130 million, the total annual capacity of the facilities at 150.000 tons.
