The first phase of the tender for the selection of the private partner who will undertake the implementation of the Achaia waste management PPP project has concluded.
Six candidates had submitted expressions of interest and, by decision of the Municipality of Patras, all 6 qualify and continue to the second phase:
The scope of the project is the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the waste management facilities, with the goal to resolve the longstanding problem of waste management in the area, in line with the Regional Waste Management Plan for Western Greece and Community Directives.
The total annual amount of waste to be managed has been estimated at 150.000 tons, while it is foreseen that the project will be co-funded by EU funds.The private partner will be selected for a PPP contract of 27 years, through competitive dialogue, while the tender process allows all available technologies that cover the environmental targets, European and Greek legislation.Source: PPP Secretariat
