Birmingham Highways Limited (BHL) has announced a shortlist of 2 prequalified firms for the operation and maintenance of the road network PFI project in Birmingham, UK.
The GBP2.7 billion (USD3.33 billion) project involves the operation and maintenance of 2,500 km of the road network, nearly 100,000 street lights, as well as over 850 highway structures and bridges across the city of Birmingham, located in the West Midlands region of England, for 12 years.
The shortlisted firms are SNC-Lavalin and Kier Highways. Both firms are expected to prepare interim submissions and draft bids to help inform dialogue and progress negotiations.
Final contract bids are expected for the end of 2022 and should be formally submitted in January 2023. The new contract is planned to be awarded in April 2023.
