The first phase of the tender for the selection of the private partner who will undertake the implementation of the Epirus waste management PPP project concluded.
Seven candidates had submitted expressions of interest and, by decision of the Region of Epirus, six qualify and continue to the competitive dialogue procedure:
The facility in Epirus will manage about 150 thousand tons of waste annually, including all municipal solid waste generated in the entire administrative area of Epirus.
The private partners will be selected through the competitive dialogue process and will undertake the design, financing, construction, maintenance, facility management and operation of the respective waste treatment facility for 27 years.
As in all waste management PPP competitions in Greece, the process allows all available technologies that cover the environmental targets, European and Greek legislation.
The lowest fee to be paid by the users will constitute the main selection criterion, while meeting all environmental goals. The project will be co-financed by the European Union's structural funds.
