The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has prequalified seven bidders as suitable to present their technical and economic proposals for the “Longitudinal de la Sierra Tramo 4” road project in Peru. The project requires an investment of US$1.2 billion and is expected to be awarded in Q3 of 2024.
These are seven global operator bidders, including national and Latin American, European and Asian operators such as Sacyr Concesiones SL; Concesionaria Vial del Centro (Construction and Administration SA and Hidalgo and Hidalgo SA); Obrascon Huarte Lain SA; China Communications Construction Company Ltd. Peru Branch, Carretera de los Andes Consortium (Grodco Inversiones SA and Ingeniería Estrella SA), Operadora Surperú SA; R&R Consortium (Benito Roggio E Hijos SA Peru Branch and Rovella Carranza SA Peru Branch).
The implementation of this road project will benefit 1.6 million people in Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho, and Apurímac. It involves the concession of approximately 900 km of roadway connecting these five regions. The future concessionaire will be responsible for the design, financing, pre-intervention maintenance, execution of interventions (including initial periodic maintenance over approximately 627 km, rehabilitation and improvement of about 148 km, and construction of the San Clemente bypass in Ica spanning roughly 5 km), and the operation and maintenance of the road. The remaining kilometers will be handed over by the sector for operation and maintenance from the start of the concession.
