Sacyr emerges as preferred bidder for Chilean hospital

Chile's public works ministry (MOP) has announced that Sacyr Concesiones Chile has emerged as the preferred bidder for the concession contract of two hospitals in central region V, the Biprovincial Quillota - Petorca hospital and the Provincial Marga Marga hospital .

Sacyr Concesiones Chile asked for a 628,000 UF (US$26 million) construction subsidy and a 242,000 UF (US$10 million) subsidy for the hospitals' operation. Sacyr beat out competition from OHL Agencia en Chile, who asked for a 656,153 UF (US$27 million) construction subsidy and 242,000 UF (US$10 million) for operating annually the hospitals.

The proposal submitted by the consortium Abengoa Chile Inabesa Teyma did not meet technical requirements and was not considered.

The concession project of the "Red V Region" includes an investment of UF5.8 million (US$242 million).

The project involves the construction, maintenance and operation of non-medical support services for the existing Quillota-Petorca and Marga Marga Hospitals. The concession also envisages the provision, replacement and maintenance of medical equipment.

The Quillota - Petorca hospital will provide 264 new beds to the network of Health Service. It will serve 290 thousand people from 8 municipalities surrounding the northern sector of the region.

The Marga Marga Provincial Hospital, located in Villa Alemana, will serve  400 thousand people.

Sacyr Concesiones Chile is the leading infrastructure developer in Chile. The firm recently was selected as the preferred bidder in a consortium with OHL Concesiones for the Américo Vespucio Oriente highway concession in Santiago de Chile.
