Sacyr Concesiones sells stakes in Portuguese hospital concessions

Sacyr Concesiones has sold 98% of its company Hospitais Concesionados (HC) to the Aberdeen infrastructure fund. HC managed equity holding in the concessions of three hospitals in Portugal, 51% in two hospitals in Braga and Vila Franca de Xira, and 40% in other located in Isla Terceira in the Azores islands.

Sacyr Concesiones will continue to hold a 2% investment in HC and will continue to provide management services to the hospitals.

The transaction has totaled €113 million (US$125 million), jointly considering the value of the equity holding and the associated debt.

The Braga hospital began operations in 2011, it has a surface area of 102,403 square meters and 705 hospital beds, 60 consulting rooms, 9 surgery rooms.

The hospital in Vila Franca de Xira was opened in 2013 with a built floor space of 48,430 square meters, 280 beds, 9 surgery rooms and 33 consulting rooms.

The Santo Espírito Hospital in Isla Terceira started operations in 2012, it has a built floor space of 48,970 square meters, 241 beds, 45 consulting rooms and day hospital.

In October 2015, we reported about the intention of Aberdeen Infrastructure to acquire the two public private partnership (PPP) hospital projects in Braga and Vila Franca de Xira.

This operation is encompassed within the strategy of Sacyr Concesiones to rotate mature assets in order to invest in new projects under development.

Aberdeen Asset Management invests in all major sectors of social and economic infrastructure including health, education, social housing, government accommodation, roads, bridges, rail, rolling stock and waste management. Europe, Australia and North America are the main focus of investment. As of December 2015, Aberdeen has US$433 billion of assets under management.
