The State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) to hire consultants to carry out an environmental public private partnership (PPP) project in Ilha Grande.
The project would involve the development of infrastructure and the provision of management support services to preserve the island and to attract visitors to the protected areas. The concession, which would have a period of 25 years, would include the following:
The total project investment during the first 5 years is estimated at R$67 million (US$20.2 million).
Ilha Grande is an island located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state. The island, which is part of the municipality of Angra dos Reis, remains largely undeveloped. The island, which is 193 km2 in area, is now a popular tourist destination.
Interested parties must submit their expression of interest on or before 14 July 2016. The maximum budget available for the consultancy services is RS$1.4 million (US$422,209) and the total time to develop the feasibility study is 100 days.
