Rio de Janeiro prepares tender to upgrade tunnels through PPP model

The Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro is preparing a tender process for a PPP project for the repair, operation and maintenance of 16 road tunnels in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The project includes the upgrade and maintenance of single-bore tunnels and double-bore tunnels ranging from 182 meters to 2,040 meters in length.

A consortium formed by the local firms Trana Construções, EIT Engenharia, Engebrás and York Engenharia have been in charge of developing the studies for the project.

Interested parties can submit questions about the project until January 30. The preferred bidder will be selected according to the size of the payment requested from the state.

At InfraPPP, we recently announced other transport PPP projects in Rio de Janeiro in planning stage: the Gávea - Carioca metro project, the Corcovado train project and a car park project.
