RFQ for major road project in USA to be issued soon

Georgia department of transportation (GDOT) in the USA has announced a procurement schedule for I-285/I-20 East Interchange project in DeKalb County. The authority will issue a request for qualification for the project on July 01, 2020 with the deadline for submission of qualifications on September 3, 2020. The notice of intent to advertise (NOIA) is already published on the Georgia procurement registry. NOIA document can be found on the project profile page here.

As part of GDOT’s Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP), GDOT intends to solicit responses to design, construct, and finance the project under a Design-Build-Finance (DBF) agreement. The proposed project will include the reconfiguration of the I-285 at I-20 East Interchange and improvements along I-20. The interchange will begin west of the I-285 Overpass and will end at the east of the Fairington Road Overpass. The scope of works involves: reconstructing ramps, constructing new collector-distributor (CD) lanes, adding auxiliary lanes along I-20 and I-285, replacing the Miller Road, I-20 over Snapfinger Creek, and Fairington Road bridges and I-285 northbound over Snapfinger Road.

In light of official directives and current public health guidelines mandating social distancing, the contracting authority has held a virtual industry forum for developers and contractors on May 13, 2020.  Following the Industry Forum one-on-one meetings will be held between May 13 and 15, 2020, via protected and private Webex links.

GDOT plans to shortlist finalists on October 27, 2020 and issue final RFP in March 2021. The preffered bidder is planned to be selected in Q3 2021.
