RFP launched for Gary/Chicago International Airport P3

The Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority approved on 22 July 2013 a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Development and Management of the Gary/Chicago International Airport and Related Assets to invest in the airport and the surrounding area through a potential public-private partnership.

Deadline for the Proposals is August 26, 2013.

The Airport Authority and the City of Gary foresee a P3 model that retains public ownership of the airport and benefits from private sector innovation and access to capital.

A team of financial experts, project managers and legal advisers are assisting the Airport Authority in the P3 exploration. The team includes A.C. Advisory Inc., JClark Consulting Group, LLC and Faegre Baker Daniels LLP.

The Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority released on June 1oth a Request for Expressions of Interest and Qualifications (REIQ) from private sector interests to gather a broad array of approaches and ideas to invest in the airport and the surrounding area through a potential public-private partnership (P3).

Potential investors included among others:
  • MXD Development Strategists
  • Chicago-based Environmental Engineering firm Greeley and Hansen
  • The GCIA Group LLC (a local consortium that includes Davis and Chicago-based real estate developers)
  • Washington, D.C. AvPorts
  • Guggenheim Partners
