Qatar seeks consultants for Facility E IWPP

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has launched a tender process for consultancy services to assist in the procurement process of a new independent water and power project, Facility E.

The tender documents are available till 25 July. Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 22 September, 2016.

The new independent water and power project is expected to help the country to have enough capacity to meet the demand beyond 2020.

In early January we reported that Umm Al Houl Power (UHP) of Qatar closed project financing for the Facility D, a similar project in the country. The total project investment is estimated at US$3.2 billion.

Facility D involves the construction, ownership, and operation of a natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant with a total capacity of 2400 MW, and a desalination plant with a total capacity og 590 thousand cubic meters per day. The new facility will be developed in the vicinity of Qatar Economic Zone 3, located some 20 km to the south of Doha.
