Public-private partnership signed for US$387.7 million new cancer hospital in Greece

The 'Theagenio' Cancer Hospital has signed a PPP for the construction of a new Cancer Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The hospital will have a 425-bed capacity and will include the following units:

  • intensive care (10 beds);
  • palliative care;
  • daily hospitalization for operations and chemotherapy;
  • care for emotional support and pain; and
  • a department of outpatient medical services as well as a small section for emergencies.

In addition, the new cancer hospital will include a laboratory and diagnostic sector for in vitro and in vivo services, a radiotherapy department and radioisotope therapy department, a laundry room, a kitchen, and communal spaces. The new hospital's contracting authority is the 'Theagenio' Cancer Hospital of Thessaloniki. 

The PPP agreement duration is 30 years, and the assessed value of the project is EUR 350.5 million (US$ 387.7 million), excluding VAT.
