Proposals received for Rolling stock of US$7.4 billion train PPP project in Mexico

El Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (Fonatur) in Mexico has received two proposals in response to tender for providing rolling stock of the Tren Maya system. The following companies submitted the proposals :

  1. CAF Mexico and Rubau México (amount offered US$ 37,453,811,999.06)
  2. Bombardier Transportation México, Alstom Transport México, Gami Ingeniería e Instalaciones, Construcción Urales and Construcciones Urales Procesos Industriales (amount offered US$ 36,563,731,221.12)

The tender included the following services :

  • Acquisition, testing, and start-up of 42 trains for the demand for the Mayan Train

  • Acquisition, equipment, testing, and commissioning of railway systems necessary for the proper operation of the Mayan Train, as well as the design, construction, and commissioning of infrastructure for its equipment such as control posts (central and zone)

  • Design, construction, and equipment of maintenance workshops and garages necessary for the safeguarding and conservation of trains

  • The provision, by the supplier, of an after-sales service related to the conservation and optimal operation of the equipment. Additionally, this service will include the transfer of knowledge by the provider.

The ruling will be issued on May 26, once Fonatur has analyzed each of the proposals received in this open international public tender.

    Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (Fonatur) in Mexico has received 15 proposals in response to the tender for the second section of Maya train PPP project. The project involves the development of a 235 km long railway line connecting Calkini, Campeche, and Escárcega, in Campeche.
